Job description

We are seeking an experienced WordPress Developer to join our Marketing team! As a WordPress Developer at Vyond, you will be responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including creating WordPress themes and plugins. We are expecting you to have a strong understanding of latest industry trends and content management systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing new features and functionality
  • Establishing and maintaining the website’s architecture
  • Ensuring availability and high-performance rendering of both Mobile and Desktop experiences
  • Work with our design team to formulate an effective, responsive design–and turn it into a working theme and plugin.
  • Managing all technical aspects of the CMS

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (latest ECMAScript versions)
  • Strong understanding of PHP back-end development
  • Experience with WordPress-specific features such as Custom Queries, Custom Fields, Custom Post Types, Gutenberg/Blocks, etc
  • Experience building mobile-friendly (responsive) user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
  • Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc
  • Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers
  • Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (Git)
  • Knowledge of React and common tools used in the wider React ecosystem, such as Node.js and npm
  • Familiarity with common programming tools such as Redux, IDEs, RESTful APIs, Git repositories, TypeScript, version control software, and remote deployment tools
  • Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML)
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software development, engineering, or a related technical field
