The Opportunity

DAT is looking for a Web Developer to join our outstanding Digital Marketing team in either the Denver, CO or Beaverton, OR office.

The Web Developer will work on the design and development of DAT.com, along with several other company websites, landing pages, forms, and digital experiences built across multiple content management platforms. This role will be responsible for both back-end and front-end development tasks, including creating, updating, and troubleshooting issues with WordPress themes and plugins, development and maintenance of API integrations and Webhooks, and monitoring and resolving website issues and errors quickly, which are identified through monitoring systems.

We are looking for someone who has in-depth knowledge and extensive experience in programming (namely PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, and CSS), who is fluent with WordPress, and has experience with incident management.

DAT offers employees a Hybrid work schedule. Candidates must be prepared to work an 8-5, Pacific Time Zone schedule.

Candidate Profile

  • You have 5+ years of experience in WordPress development with multisite configuration, parent/child themes and custom page templates.
  • You have 5+ years of experience with API development and support.
  • You have expertise building and updating custom plugins, components, and page layouts in WordPress when out-of-the-box options aren’t available.
  • You have extensive experience writing PHP and JavaScript code to improve website features and functionality.
  • You have demonstrated experience with Elementor, Gutenberg, Advanced Custom Fields, Jet plugins, HandL UTM Grabber v3, and other common WordPress plugins
  • You can develop new website pages from mockups/prototypes/or layered digital files.
  • You have experience with website performance/security monitoring, as well as incident management (New Relic, Synthetics, (x) matters, Pingdom, Page Speed Insights, WebPageTest).
  • You have experience with headless CMS and have worked on migrating websites to a headless experience.
  • You have strong skills and experience with the following:
    • Front-end technologies including JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3 and jQuery.
    • PHP and creating Webhooks.
    • Code versioning tools (Git, Mercurial and SVN)/ & connections to WordPress sites.
    • API development.
    • HTML5.
    • CSS3 skills.
    • Jira/Confluence.
    • Website server & hosting management experience (WP Engine, Apache, Nginx).
    • Experience with DevOps and cloud hosting providers (AWS, GCP, etc.).
    • ProcessWire (Nice to Have).
  • You thrive in a deadline driven environment that builds on iteration and adaptability.
  • You are good at working on a team as well as independently.
  • You like collaborating with stakeholders to solve problems and working with cross functional groups to get things done.
  • You will act quickly to resolve issues, and you are resourceful when it comes to finding a solution.
  • You don’t just accept the status quo! You look for opportunities to break out of the mold and find better tools and processes to optimize and improve website efficiency: e.g., automated testing and tools, version control, CI/CD workflows, error logging.
  • You like to learn and keep up to date with the latest coding practices and technologies.

What You’ll Do

  • Work in a hybrid model out of our office in Denver, CO or Beaverton, OR.
  • Develop and QA your work, ensuring it meets all the requirements before deploying changes to production.
  • Work closely with other team members in India as well as in the US, collaborating on projects and completing customer requests.
  • Work with internal and external teams to build and improve website designs and functionality to drive business growth and improve customer experiences.
  • Always be on the lookout for ways to improve and optimize the websites.
  • Update and build out new WordPress themes and plugins.
  • Monitor website up-time and performance, raise awareness for possible issues, and create and implement solutions.
  • Be proactive – look to fix problems before bigger issues erupt.

Skills and Experience You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a similar field.
  • Demonstrated work experience as a WordPress developer, with Elementor experience preferred.
  • Experience working with debugging tools such as Chrome Inspector and Firebug.
  • Experience measuring website performance using tools like Pingdom, PageSpeed Insights, and/or WebPageTest.
  • Experience designing and testing responsive websites that work across multiple devices and browsers.
  • Experience with WCAG and W3C accessibility guidelines.
  • Good understanding of website architecture and aesthetics.
  • Ability to manage projects, and build, test, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Excellent communication skills.

(Colorado only) In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the minimum salary for this role is $91,000 base salary, plus benefits. The maximum compensation for this role can vary significantly depending on your job-related skills and experience.
