BLKDG is seeking a Mid – Senior Level WordPress Developer responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including creating WordPress themes and plugins from scratch. This position requires a combination of programming skills (namely PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript) and an understanding of core design principles required to build beautiful websites.

Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills for both internal and client-facing communications

- Architecting and estimation to help break down big projects into manageable tasks that developers less experienced than you can successfully deliver on
- Plugin authoring to solve customer problems when needed, and ability to discern when using an existing plugin is best
- Mastery of web standards and best practices, particularly the ability to write meaningful, semantic HTML that responds across devices and breakpoints, degrades gracefully, and meets (or exceeds) the latest accessibility guidelines
- Comfortable with modern development practices and build tools such as JIRA, GitHub, CircleCI, LocalWP, Lando, Composer, etc
- Update Management best practices across multiple sites
- Performance Optimization through caching and monitoring
- Familiarity with modern website security best practices for WordPress
- Agile experience working with agency teams leveraging Scrum, Kanban or similar methodologies
- Familiarity with component- driven design practices and Gutenberg
- WordPress migration experience
Responsibilities
- Responsible for both back-end and front-end development
- Responsible for creating WordPress themes and Plugins from scratch

- Development/Deployment of enterprise-level WordPress plugins and themes
- Collaborating with developers from other teams to create modular, extensible PHP and JS solutions (plugins, packages, blocks, and components) for reuse across projects
- Converting project requirements into proposals for implementation (estimating time/resources, planning tasks/timeline, etc)
- Platform/multi site maintenance and optimization
- Code Reviews and Feedback
- Mentor junior developers and lead community of practitioners/developers
- Work planning and issue management
- Local Development Environment Setup/Configuration
- Documentation and Coding Standards
- Theme and Plugin Security
- Comfortable wearing many hats and willing to work on all parts of the stack
You might also know about:
- Cloud hosting with WP Engine and/or Pantheon
- JavaScript
- Web analytics

- Writing clear and concise documentation
- Knowledge of other frameworks like Drupal, Craft, React, or Gatsby
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in PHP web development
- 3-5 years of experience with WordPress theme development
- Strong understanding of modern front-end web development techniques, including responsive design and website performance
- Strong experience using CSS preprocessors like SASS or LESS and task runners like Grunt or Gulp
- Knowledge of modern JavaScript practices
- Knowledge of SEO/SEM and its impact on web design
- Significant knowledge of client server and internet systems architectures
- Strong technical communication and Interpersonal skills
- Experience being a self starter and a motivated learner
- Strong experience with Git workflows
- Experience writing about technical issues

Salary: $75,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
