Position Overview:

We are looking for a Lead Engineer with at least 7+ years of full-stack WordPress development experience to join our team in Medellín. This position will focus primarily on working with clients and leading a group of developers. Strong candidates will have deep hands-on experience creating custom plugins and themes and demonstrable expertise in executing the full software development life-cycle – from concept to completion.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced WordPress engineer who’s ready for the next step to lead a team which supports a variety of clients and their sites. Experience in a fast-paced, team-based environment is crucial.

On a daily basis you may find yourself unblocking an engineer on an engagement you are leading, performing code reviews, working with the account team to understand client needs, or managing a site deployment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of engineers across multiple projects, and support them by leading stands, working sessions, code reviews, and architecture refactors
  • Lead the charge on delivery, including the quality of our code and the overall technical health of the applications
  • Help with work prioritization, estimation, and distribution to the team
  • Work with our accounts team and clients to gather requirements and generate User Stories
  • Think critically and apply your knowledge and experience to achieve superior client outcomes
  • Convey technical information and solutions to clients, project coordinators, and other internal team members across departments in an easy-to-understand manner
  • Guide engineers toward efficient solutions to technical challenges
  • Research new technologies and prototype potential solutions that fulfill the needs of our clients and their customers
  • Inspire your clients and teammates

Requirements:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information and solutions to clients and project managers in an easy-to-understand manner
  • 3+ years of experience interfacing with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and other internal departments
  • 7+ years of experience developing web applications with WordPress in a LAMP environment
  • 7+ years of experience working with JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
  • Strong knowledge of PHP and MySQL
  • Strong knowledge with WordPress structure and development practices, including hooks, filters, custom post types, and taxonomies.
  • Experience using Advanced Custom Fields WP plugin
  • Familiarity with Gutenberg editor (custom block/template creation)
  • Experience with Git for code source control
  • Experience working with multiple project methodologies such as Agile & Waterfall
